Still not done with Design By Humans
More t-shirts from DBH I love:
"found then lost". It's the cycle of life. ($19)
"After the rain comes a rainbow". One of the best designs I've seen on a t-shirt for a while. Nice typography, cool comics and a good saying. ($19)
"Punkitecture". It's all about the
pose. Full of punk-irony. ($19)
Design By Humans love
Design By Humans printed lots of awesome t-shirts while I was out, so consider this me catching up. Here is a batch of tees I loved (I'm going bankrupt I tell you...):
"Emo", a fantastic and colorfull celebration of Emo culture. Blades and everything.
Pretty funny. Want to freak out everyone you know? It's just $19.
"The epic battle". From the designer: "whats better than an epic war between the most fierce creatures of all time!" I'm betting on the elephants, of course. ($24)
"Build". "Destroy, then build", says the designer in charge. ($19)
"1000 cranes". I have a thing for cranes since they began cropping up on t-shirts and this one really takes if over the edge. On sale for $19.
We interrupt this silence, to bring you news of a very cool reprint @ Threadless

Yes, Threadless reprinted
Home is Where the Heart Is (the name only makes you wanna go hug your mom), a lovely design by Ross Zietz. According to Threadless, when you order one of this, you don't know which bird you'll get. It's "all part of the awesomeness!" We nod our heads in silent agreement.
Plus, each bird has a different name. I want Pepe, the Parakeet, of course!
A t-shirt for toddlers

Very funny t-shirt from
Savy Tot. (

Three Skulls

I'm not a big fan of skulls on tees, but I will open an exception for
Three Skulls, an awesome spaghetti design by Chuck BB. It's on sale at
Nucleus for $19.95. (

It's a great design, but is it a great t-shirt?
Robot Attack is the winning design of the first
Design by Humans' contest, and the result of a collaboration between 25 artists. The winners, members of Black Rock Collective, will receive a $5000 kickoff money prize. The t-shirt is on sale for $19.
I find the design awesome, I truly do, but to answer my own question, no, I don't think it makes a great t-shirt, not one I'm interested in having at least.
T-shirts with a story: Rosa Loves
Rosa Loves is not your usual t-shirt company. Their objective is to help individuals in need by telling their stories in a t-shirt and selling it. A percentage (I don't know what the numbers are) of the money raised goes back to those individuals. Their motto is "Designed for good" and each t-shirt on sale tells a different story through a graphic design and a text that appears on the inverse of the shirt. Their latest t-shirt is called
"The Sharkar Family" and was inspired by the life of hardship of a Bangladeshi family.
Here is their mission objective (taken from their
site):
"We hope to encourage individual people to get involved in the community around them on a somewhat tangible scale. We will accomplish this by providing financial support to those in need by infiltrating the t-shirt industry with a new perspective of how clothing can serve a purpose other than outfitting. Everyone has a story. Everyone has a need. By using art and creativity, we hope to foster hope and encouragement through the aid of apparel."
